Accessibility Statement
Updated October 2026
AcademyMinds is for every child who wants to get good at math, including children and parents who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or who find motion or busy screens hard going. This page explains what we have done, where we still fall short, and how to tell us.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across this website and the student and parent dashboard. We have not yet had an independent audit, so we do not claim full conformance.
What we have built in
- A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page, and a full keyboard path through menus, forms, the free assessment and assignments, with a visible focus outline.
- Body text in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readers with low vision.
- Real text, not pictures of text. The scoreboard-style numbers carry a plain spoken version for screen readers.
- Decorative pixel art and background games are hidden from screen readers, so they do not add noise.
- A "Pause animations" button in the footer of every page (and in the account menu once signed in) turns all moving pictures into a still version. The choice is remembered. If your device is set to reduce motion, you get the still version automatically.
- Animations also pause on their own when they are scrolled out of view.
- Form fields have visible labels, and form errors are announced to screen readers as they appear.
- Answer boxes bring up the number pad on phones and tablets, and buttons are sized for small fingers.
Known limitations
- Some text in the staff tools for teachers and admins is smaller than we would like.
- Live classes run on Zoom and payments on Stripe. Their accessibility is set by those companies; we will help with any problem you hit there.
- We have not yet checked every class recording for captions. If your child needs captions or a transcript, tell us and we will arrange it.
Tell us what gets in the way
If any part of the site or a class is hard to use, email support@academyminds.com with the page and what happened. We read every message, and we will also work out another way for you to get what you need while we fix it.
